Key recommendation of Bercow Review sees inclusion expert Jean Gross in new role
A former teacher, lecturer, educational pscyhologist and Head of Children's Services has been appointed by the government in England to champion children with speech, language and communication needs.
Jean Gross is currently director of the Every Child a Chance Trust. She is experienced in an advisory capacity within government, has written widely on special educational needs and is described by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as "a national expert on inclusion issues".
The appointment of a Communication Champion was one of the key recommendations of the Bercow Report on services for children with speech, language and communication needs.
Jean Gross said, "I'm delighted to have the chance to build on the great work done by all those involved in the Bercow Review and I hope that together we can make a big difference to the future of every child who is currently denied the fundamental human right of skilled communication."
