Editor Avril Nicoll takes the long view on children's language impairment
'Taking the long view' is Speech & Language Therapy in Practice editor Avril Nicoll's reflection on a seminar on research in Scotland into children's communication disorders.
The seminar was followed by the Tom Ingram Trust 2009 Lecture, given by Professor Bruce Tomblin from the University of Iowa. His longitudinal research is throwing up challenging findings in terms of the impact of socio economic status on outcome.
