'Meeting the communication challenge'

Afasic Scotland takes campaign to Scottish Parliament
Afasic Scotland is taking its campaign for a review of services for children and young people with communication difficulties to the Scottish Parliament.
In addition to celebrating its work, the charity will be using the three days in the Garden Lobby to raise awareness of the challenge presented by speech and language impairments and campaigning for a Scottish version of last year's Bercow review of services in England. This found that, although there are excellent professionals and some good services, communication needs a higher priority and access, quality, continuity and joint working need to improve.
Director of Afasic Scotland Ann Auchterlonie is also hosting a reception on May 5 sponsored by Jeremy Purvis MSP. She says "Afasic Scotland will be asking whether, in light of the findings of the Bercow review in England and despite the best efforts of the Scottish government and others, we can be complacent about provision in Scotland."
