All Party Parliamentary Group on Parkinson's disease to investigate inequalities in access to health and social services
The All Party Parliamentary Group for Parkinson’s disease has launched an inquiry into access to health and social services.
The APPG was formed earlier this year to ensure Parkinson’s disease would be on the political agenda. Group chair Baroness Gale explained how people with Parkinson’s are robbed of their quality of life due to gaps in key services. She said that, in spite of clear standard setting by the government, “people with Parkinson’s are still in the unenviable position of ‘hit and miss’” when trying to access support and information. Baroness Gale, whose late father had Parkinson’s disease, added, ““The APPG inquiry will investigate why these inequalities continue to exist and provide an overall picture of the scale and nature of the barriers to accessing services for people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers.”
Further information is available from the Parkinson's Disease Society.
