Nurturing creativity
[return]
TED education talk
Thanks to reader Gillian Bolton for sending this link to a talk by Sir Ken Robinson on the TED (Technology, Education, Design) website. He proposes that educators need to nurture and value creativity as much as they value literacy. He says intelligence is "wonderfully interactive" and that creativity (original ideas that have value) comes about through the interaction of different disciplines. None of this is particularly new, but perhaps it is now being heard and understood more widely? I would be interested to hear from readers whose practice has been influenced by this way of thinking.
